The Serbian Handball Association will be hosting the 2012 European Women’s Handball Championship, it was announced at the European Handball Federation’s website. The tournament takes place from 4 to 16 December, in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis and Vrsac. Originally, it was the Netherlands that was to have hosted the tournament, but it withdrew on June 4. Serbia’s competitors were Croatia, Denmark, Macedonia, Iceland, Norway, Poland, Eomania, Russia, Slovakia and Sweden. In January this year, Serbia hosted the European Men’s Handball Championship, where it won silver medal, having lost to the Danish team in the finals.
