Official Belgrade will request that talks with provisional authorities in Pristina are from now on held in the presence of UN representatives – Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic underlined in talks with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in Belgrade. Nikolic said that the UN should have a more active role in the fight to preserve the principle of international law, territorial integrity and sovereignty of internationally recognized countries and UN member states, as well as in the process of implementation and adherence to UN SC Resolution 1244. Speaking of the situation in the southern Serbian province, Nikolic pointed that increasingly often incidents that are responsibility of the authorities in Pristina represent an attempt to provoke the Serbian side prior to continuation of the dialogue. Serbian President called on all international factors in Kosovo, including the UN Mission, to carry out their tasks in accordance with their mandates and create conditions for peace and safety of all citizens in the province. Ban Ki-moon expressed satisfaction with his first visit to Belgrade and strong conviction that Serbia will fully contribute to the UN over the next year during which Vuk Jeremic will chair the UN General Assembly.
