
The summit of the UN General Assembly, like the one currently held in Rio de Janeiro, will be held next year under the presidency of Serbia. Head of the Serbian Diplomacy Vuk Jeremic has stated it means that Serbia is negotiating the place of hosting the summit, but also the topics that will be in the focus of that gathering in 2013. Serbia holds a new place and importance within the UN system, said Jeremic, who will be chairing the UN General Assembly as of September this year. The Serbian delegation in Brazil is headed by President Tomislav Nikolic, and besides Jeremic also features Minister of Environmental Protection Oliver Dulic. The three-day UN summit on the Earth, entitled “Rio 20 Plus’ is dedicated to ecology and solving the problem of poverty. This gathering is attended by representatives of 191 countries, among who 86 heads of states or governments.
