German Ambassador to Serbia Wolfram Maas said that all the conditions for setting a date for the commencement of Serbia’s talks with the EU are known and clear and that Belgrade is not asked to recognize independence of Kosovo although, as he said, the issue is important. We are taking measures to become as transparent as possible on that issue, he said, opening this year’s Welcome to Germany programme. He said that the agreements reached between Belgrade and Pristina ought to be applied, for if they are not, they are not worth everything. The issues in the dialogue’s agenda, such as electricity and telecommunications, should be completed, whereas the third item of Kosovo-related conclusions is visible steps towards the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, Maas said.
