The state secretary in the Ministry for Kosmet, Oliver Ivanović, said that the closing of the UNMIK office in northern Kosmet would weaken communication with the southern part of the Province, which has been going on through UNMIK. He told agency Tanjug that Pristina should realize that by opening an administrative office in northern Kosovska Mitrovica it would curb any future dialogue. Such an office would be neither functional nor efficient, added Ivanović. He stressed that only a special representative, i.e. the head of UNMIK, or the UN Security Council, could close that office and added that he had had no impression in talks with UNMIK representatives that such a thing would happen.
