The secretary general of the Serbian Handball Association, Božidar Đurković, said that the fact that Serbia will be hosting the 2012 European Women’s Handball Championship was the best sign of the trust the European Handball Federation places in Serbian handball. In a letter they sent to us, they wrote that the reason for awarding us the championship was the splending organization of the European Men’s Handball Championship by Serbia in January, which is another proof of the fact that we are excellent organizers of big tournaments, said Đurković. This is probably a historic situation, he emphasized, as it has never happened before that one country organizes a handball championship in the two major categories in the same year.
